Chocolate & Peanut Butter Crepe Cake

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CREPE CAKE (6)

My grand plan was to have this post up for you on the morning of the 28th – so you were all set for Pancake Day – but a sick kitty foiled my plans.  Howevever, I now bring you something to do with all of those left over crepes you have lying around (yeah, right!) and my cat Enzo seems to be on the mend.  It’s all good!

I was asked to create a recipe using a crepe maker for AO.com, which got me thinking….other than the perfect crepe recipe, which a brain much brighter than mine has already created, what on earth can I do.  After some Pinterest seaching (where would we be without it!), I stumbled across the world of crepe cakes. January Round-Up

january-round-up

Welcome to the first day of February.  One day closer to spring! Finally!  I’ve had enough of the darkness, the wind and the rain.  Looking forward to spring flowers, warmer temperatures and not having to utilize that short window of time during the day when it’s bright enough to take photos by natural light. Ever So Sweet Shop Update

Since merging my blog and my baking business I thought it would be fun to post updates every now and then to keep you up to date with what’s been going on in my kitchen!

Today I’ve been working on making 24 Jake and the Neverland Pirates cupcake toppers.  Yes, that’s as difficult as it sounds!  Up until I received the order I had never heard of Jake but I feel well acquainted with him and his friends now!  They are still a work in progress but below are some of the other cupcake toppers I’ve completed recently.

In other exciting news I have opened an Etsy shop as a way to sell some of my products, at the moment I’ve got some fondant cake toppers and macarons up there.  The shop went live about 2 weeks ago and just in the last two days I’ve had my first two ordes!  Very exciting but kinda scary because now it’s real and I can’t let these customers who live so far away from me down!

Happy Birthday Bake Good!

It’s my birthday!  Well, it’s the blogs birthday anyway.  One year ago today I hit publish on my first post and I must confess that I wasn’t completely confident it would still be going now.  I had wanted to start a blog for a while, and have always enjoyed it, but I am the master of starting something and never finishing it, or not seeing it through.  A major flaw but look at me now, 12 months and 98 posts later and we’re still here.

A lot has happened since Bake Good was born – I’ve had a lovely trip to Paris, won the Borders Biscuits competition, found ways to put peanut butter in to everything, quit my job, moved home and working on setting up my own business.  A good combination of fun and scary.

chamomile cupcakes

My first post was for Chamomile Cupcake with Honey and Lemon Icing, which I took along to my second Glasgow Baking Club meet up.  One of the many things I miss about Glasgow is the lovely ladies from the club  They have a cheese themed meet up tomorrow and I’m super jealous not to be involved, enjoy everyone!

ombre cake

So to celebrate turning 1 I’m going to eat the last slice of this cake I made at the weekend.  Thanks to everyone who reads my blabberings, who has tried my recipes, who has taste tested my recipes pre-posting and to everyone who has taken the time to leave a comment.  I thank you and here’s to another year!

Superhero Cake

SUPERHERO CAKE 1

My friends sister asked if I would bake a cake for her sons birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Well, of course, but what did she want it to look like?  He, like any other four year old, likes superheros – Spiderman, The Hulk and The Thing to be precise.  So to Pintrest I went in search of inspiration and ideas that I could cope with, but would also have a bit of wow factor.
